I want to ride my bicycle

For the past year, my sweet blue bike has been stowed away in a laundry closet in one of the smelliest duplexes in the known world. (Though this has almost nothing to do with my Beloved, who is a resident of the house in question.) The flatness of its tires is just depressing. But I do miss it. Oh the adventures I've had with that bike! All the ice cream it has carried me to and from! All the quaint elderly couples it has passed with a cheery "ding" of the bell!
I am becoming more and more motivated to try and get it back into fighting form and put it to work. But my lazy self keeps coming up with reasons not to take it to campus to use instead of the finicky school bus system.
  • how would I get it onto campus? (The Beloved has a bike rack on his car...)
  • would it come back and forth daily? (...but I don't want to burden him every day...)
  • where would it stay if it was to live on campus? (I'd rather not leave it outside, but there are only a few bike racks under any sort of cover and they are in inconvenient locations.)
  • speaking of rain - yikes. What happens when I'm using my bike one day and it starts raining while I am in class? Talk about not cute!
  • to helmet or not to helmet? I was raised by Mr. Safetyman, and I would feel weird without one, especially in the city. But helmet hair is no fun. Nor is toting a helmet to class.
But then I see these darling pictures of cute bicycling women and remember how much I love little old ladies on bicycles and I disparately want to be like them...
from bikesocial.blogspot.com, blog.freepeople.com, treehugger.com, and ridingpretty.blogspot.com respectively)

I mean, seriously, Parisians do it! The Dutch do it! Freakin' Agnyess Deyn does it! Plenty of people on my own campus already do it (and cutely, too!) so why not me??
Come on, Callie... get with the program!

I know without a doubt that you can be one of those cute bicycling girls on campus. And I will do whatever is needed to make this happen.
